Xiaofan Chen joined Massey Univeristy in Feb. 2019. Immediately prior to that she was Software Engineer and CTO at Newnergy Enterprise Group Limited, New Zealand. In 2017 she was a professor in the School of Computer Science at Jiangsu University of Science and Technology. Before that she was a research associate in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, USA, and prior to that, research fellow of Computer Science, University of Auckland, New Zealand. She has a wide range of interests centered on data mining, data relevance and the design and development of software systems. Her research leverages human behavior theories (e.g., Information Foraging theory, Transactive Memory Systems) and empirical studies, to design and build better software tools and approaches that help software developers and teams become more efficient, improve the accuracy and efficiency during the software development process. Her research approach is interdisciplinary, leveraging research in data mining, big data analysis, program analysis, software design, software visualization, and human-computer interaction. She has joined three research projects funded by FRST, AFOSR, and NSF. These projects focused on software traceability and computer-supported cooperative work. She has been published two journal paper (one for ASEJ, A ranked journal, and another for IST), and 10 conference papers in her area of expertise. One paper was accepted by a A+ ranked conference (ICSE), three were accepted in A ranked conferences (ASE, VL/HCC), one was awarded the Best Research Paper Award in the ICGSE conference.
